Information You Send Directly
Search-box entries, including a name, telephone number, or address, are sent to the outside provider that delivers those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of search terms. A message sent to us contains the information in that message and is used to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Routine hosting logs can record an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review this information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and advertising measurement where available.
How Technical Data Is Used
It is used to operate the reference, diagnose problems, measure traffic, and improve content. We do not sell visitor lists or build profiles about individual visitors.
External Links and Search Services
Links lead to Richland County and South Carolina portals, library collections, archives, and outside search services. The privacy policy of the destination controls information submitted there. That includes sponsored search results supplied by a third party.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers process the ordinary logs described above. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the same automatic data. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires it.
Safeguards
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. There are no user accounts, passwords, or personal profiles maintained by this reference.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect a minor’s personal information. Contact us if you believe a minor has sent information so it can be removed.
Your Information Requests
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data that this reference keeps. Because the service retains little beyond operational logs and messages, we can review the contact mailbox and applicable logs promptly. Use the Contact page to make a request. South Carolina public records remain controlled by the actual county, state, city, court, or library custodian, so a request to change one belongs with that institution.
Policy Changes
Updates will be posted here. Continued use after a revised policy is posted indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
